Every once in awhile, as a travel blogger, you experience something that can only be defined as magical. For me, that experience came late June when I brought the family to Migi’s Lodge on Sebago Lake. Pulling down into the long driveway surrounded by woods, I had no idea the amazing week that was in store for us. I checked us in and a “cabin boy” took all of our luggage into a wheelbarrow and guided us to our cabin, named Cedar. When you think of cabins in the woods, you probably think of something antiquated and rustic, but Migis has turned cabin dwelling into something so much better.

Migi’s is an all inclusive vacation spot. All three of your meals daily are included. If you read the blog, you know we are a vegan family and this often gives me anxiety when traveling. I am never confident that we will have enough options for our meals. I had alerted Migis to our dietary needs and they were happy to accommodate us. Each meal, our server would start by telling us what the vegan options were without us even having to ask. For breakfast each day, the chef had a batch of vegan muffins on our table waiting for us, and vegan pancakes were only an order away.

While the kids are away, the adults can play. When was the last time you ate two meals in peace with your spouse? When was the last time you got all dressed up and sat outside having drinks and just enjoying each other’s company? As a parent, the kids always come first, so it was incredible to have hours of quality time together as husband and wife. We went kayaking, hiking, and lounged by the lake, really taking advantage of our time together and all the activities included in our stay. Each night, dinner at Migis is formal, so Alex would don his jacket and I would put on a dress making it truly feel like a special date night. I don’t know when we’ll ever get an opportunity to reconnect in that way again, so I will cherish our time at Migis.
