I think that certain films are like lightening in a bottle: magical moments that are impossible to live up to. One such movie for me was ONCE. I can remember the exact day that I drove into Boston to see its limited engagement and the moment when the credits rolled and no one moved for several moments: frankly stated: it felt like magic. So, as you can imagine, I am especially excited to get a chance to catch the Broadway adaptation of ONCE when it comes to the Providence Performing Arts Center this December 2-4.
ONCE is the celebrated musical based on the Academy Award-winning film. It tells the story of an Irish musician and a Czech immigrant drawn together by their shared love of music. Over the course of one fateful week, their unexpected friendship and collaboration evolves into a powerful but complicated romance, heightened by the raw emotion of the songs they create together. Brought to the stage by an award-winning team of visionary artists and featuring an ensemble cast of gifted actor/musicians, ONCE is a musical celebration of life and love: thrilling in its originality, daring in its honesty… and unforgettable in every way.
