I love the timehop app on Facebook to remind me of what life was like in years past. Recently, I saw that I once posted “If I ever get rich enough to use ‘summer’ as a verb, I will do so in Maine.” I have to say, after my recent visit to Freeport’s Harraseeket Inn, this status still rings true. Maine is absolutely gorgeous in the summer, and the Harraseeket is a wonderful place to take it all in. Nestled right in the heart of Main Street amongst various luxury outlet stores, the Harraseeket offers wonderful amenities, fantastic service, and grade “A” accommodations.
We arrived at the inn just in time for daily tea, which is served at 3:30. There were various types of tea, finger sandwiches, baked goods, and a tremendous fruit platter. We filled our bellies in the ornate drawing room before heading up to our room.
Our room for our two night stay was very classy and also comfortable. The beautifully canopied beds had us all sleeping well. Our room was particularly spacious with an additional sleeper sofa and coffee table. The bathroom was definitely the best part though with a huge bath that everyone in the family enjoyed.
We thoroughly enjoyed other amenities at the hotel too. The Harraseeket’s pool is the only swimming pool I have dove right into in a long time…it felt like a bathtub, so warm! The girls swam for hours. We also took advantage of the free breakfast daily (if you book directly with the hotel) which was very impressive. This was no normal continental breakfast and there were various hot dishes to please every palate. Besides that, the grounds themselves are picturesque. We loved letting the girls wander around looking at all the flora and fauna.
The next time you find yourself in Maine, take in the beautiful surroundings, great dining, and shopping, and consider a stay at the Harraseeket Inn, you won’t be disappointed.
