It’s the happiest time of the year for me…Halloween! I just love all the scares of the month of October and luckily for me, we live within driving distance to a great Halloween mecca: Salem. I try to bring the girls every year to Salem’s Haunted Happenings: a month long celebration of all things wicked. This year, we only brought Zoe Monster with us and vowed to try all new things.
We started off at the Witch Dungeon Museum which features a reenactment of a Salem witch trial followed by a walk through a dungeon. This event is more historical than spooky and a pretty good fit for any age (though the dungeon is dark.)
We then headed across the street to Gallows Hill which is, in my opinion, the absolute best attraction is all of Salem. Gallows Hill has various shows about the folklore and spooky tales in Salem. There are various special effects and lots of fun jump scares. Zoe was a little scared during parts of the show, but Alex and I loved it. I highly recommend Gallows Hill.
Finally we went to Count Orlok’s Nightmare Gallery which is a super cool horror movie museum. Unfortunately no photography is allowed, but trust me, it is a must see for any horror buff.
We ended the day with some yummy vegan lunch at the Flying Saucer Pizza Company and sightseeing and then headed home. I can’t even imagine how fun Salem is as you get closer to Halloween. Check out Haunted Happenings for a full schedule of events and happy Halloween!
