Since our last #Disneyside fete, I have been itching to throw another Disney inspired party for the girls (it’s the only thing to quench my Disney urges until our next Disney World trip!) Well, luckily for me, Lea Monster has become all out obsessed with The Little Mermaid, which also happens to be my favorite Disney movie of all time. So, when it came time to plan her third birthday party, Ariel became the obvious inspiration for the event. Lea’s party will be family only, so I sent out this evites that I designed in about two minutes to everyone on Facebook:
These were okay, but I wanted something special to get Lea and her cousins excited for the big day. The party will be taking place outside and have a lot of water centered activities to fit in with our under the sea theme, so I started thinking about bathing suits. Wouldn’t a bathing suit make a perfect invitation and later make for some great photos at the party? I started searching and I found these online at Kmart:
The suits were adorable mermaid print and best of all very affordable. I ordered them immediately and was very pleased when they came in. Now I knew I couldn’t just shove a bathing suit at a kid and say, “come to our party.” I looked online at google images for a shell outline and found one I liked and typed a message into it.
I purchased some pastel ombre cardstock and printed the shells onto it.I then just cut them out and added some sea life scrapbook stickers to the front and back, which gave me a finished product that looked like this:
I then attached the shells to the tag already on the bathing suit for a personalized and wearable party invitation!
I sent the invitations out this weekend and hope the little girls love them. How cute are pictures going to be with a bunch of cuties in their matching mermaid swimwear? I have lots of fun planned for this Mermaid bash so keep your eyes open for future posts and great mermaid giveaways to help you get inspired to show your #Disneyside right along with us!
