This weekend The Monsters and I (along with Mr. Monster) went back to one of our favorite New England locations: Edaville Railroad. Edaville is pure magic during the holidays; the entire park is lit up with thousands of lights and fully decorated for the season. We picked the absolute coldest day of the year so far to head up to Carver to experience The Christmas Festival of Lights, but that didn’t deter our fun. As the Edaville website explains:
Edaville’s Christmas Festival of Lights is arguably the most-loved festival of its kind, having earned generations of loyal fans. Passengers relax comfortably in warm and dry coaches while riding through a spectacular holiday setting featuring an explosion of lights. Kids of all ages will enjoy an array of vintage amusement rides and a visit with Santa in one of our indoor play areas. Stay for a delicious full meal or enjoy seasonal treats while roaming our sprawling and beautifully decorated grounds featuring thousands of Christmas displays. Trains typically run on an hourly schedule beginning one hour after opening and the last train is at 8p.m.

The night we went, Edaville was also running The Polar Express, so the park was full of customers reveling in the holiday spirit. Even the cold chill couldn’t ruin the warm holiday feeling permeating the air. You can check out our last post about Edaville to see some of the rides we went on while we were there. Some of the additional perks of visiting Edaville during the holidays are that Santa is available for photos inside. The prices are very affordable and they had what I like to refer to as a “good” Santa…very realistic!

Hot chocolate and cookies will be served on the train by costumed staff while pajama-clad guests enjoy a reading of the Polar Express narrated by Chris Van Allsburg and carols with chefs – all on an authentic steam train.
Sounds perfect to ride in your pajamas on a cold winter night!
