As crazy as it sounds, Christmas is already fast approaching. Zoe has already starting cutting things out of advertisements that she wants and gluing them to her list. The things is, a lot of the stuff she picks is garbage. I can’t even count the number of “must have” toys we have bought the girls that have broken within a week. Most toys these days are plastic, cheaply made, and largely non durable. The Original Toy Company offers toys that defy this model of toy making. They recently sent the monsters some toys to try out and I was impressed. We received a clarinet, two What ‘Zits, and two spinning tops.
The clarinet is sturdy and has color coded keys to make learning music easy for little ones. What ‘Zits are brightly colored wooden puzzle toys that kids can mold into various shapes, and the spinning tops are large string pulled tops. What I loved about all three is that they weren’t character based and required the monsters to use their imagination in play, especially with the What ‘Zits. Both girls loved making stairs and shapes with those toys which is really a great way to invoke creative play.
I have my eye on their puppet line for Christmas. The dolls are beautifully crafted and something I would really like to add to their collection. Check out Original Toy Company if you are looking for some durable toys and unscripted play from your little ones.
