Happy Halloween! We had a fantastic day today with the monsters. Zoe’s school had a Halloween parade and she finally got to show off her awesome costume….a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!
I found her sweatshirt in the boy toddler section of a local store for $12! I made her tutu using the same tutorial as Lea’s, but I used a lot more tulle and 4 different shades of green. Her knee pads are socks I chopped in half. The mask was made with two pieces of felt that I freehand cut out to make a turtle face and orange sash and then simply hot glued together. I was very happy with the end result. The kids started the day with a parade which we got to stay and watch. Here’s a photo of Zoe marching along:
After the parade we left with our little ghost cutie to get some breakfast and head home so I could prepare for Zoe’s afternoon school party.
Zoe’s kindergarten class had an amazing afternoon party in their classrooms. We did crafts, had snacks, and read a spooky story. I was in charge of the cookie table. I ordered vegan and gluten free cookies from Wildflour in Providence and made two different frostings to go on top as well as sprinkles and chocolate chips. The kids loved it! It also made me so happy to have Zoe feel included and not have to eat something separate because of our vegan lifestyle.
I also made each kid a goodie bag filled with toys and school supplies.
Finally, I took Zoe trick or treating and we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of “The Switch Witch.” She is kindly swapping all Zoe’s candy with some treats she can eat! Hope you all had a spooky Halloween too!
